(I am sensitive to the fact that my activism is often presented in a crude manner and my struggle is misunderstood by many as well as disbelieved. WOMEN 15- 49? Frickin 49??? That is ridiculous.
It doesnt surprise me that she ended up fleaing a year after this interview.
I know its been 3 years since she was found wandering Belgium. Dont know what has become of her now. But wherever she is heres a message.
Since Bush sexism is back. There is a blanket campaign against women, activists etc. Its not the 90's anymore. She's beautiful, smart and outspoken with a geniune, legit gripe. The system finds this very dangerous nowadays.
One sentence:
You survived once by showing initiative, running from danger. You did it again in 2008 instead of ending up floating in a river. Yer meant to continue to succeed. Women with steel grit like her dont just go away. Keep it up.
That interview told the truth and you rivaled men with the same situation, that little suggested scenerio as in 'how would he like it if it happened to him?'.
This is the exact kind of woman that is dreaded and feared among men and even women in society. And its always a woman who is capable of making headway that is meaningful not for show, ratings or publicity.
Again some parellels. The idea that people wouldnt know becuz its hidden under clothing. They would have no idea one had suffered so or been denied so much in life.
And again looks being accounted for as everything. For her friends to not be able to fathom a woman so beautiful enduring brutality and possessing scars so ugly is typical western fare.
Victims of torture around the world know that westerners and others who have a good govt and society simply cannot relate to such conditions- they have NO POINT OF REFERENCE for the pain, suffering, alteration of Self or physical body nor the extreme psychological conditions created that perpetuate throughout life. They just dont have those pathways created in thier brains.
Maybe they should put on thier virtual glasses and experience that eh? Torture etc. Its a society that kills in video games and watches humiliation as entertainment via reality shows. THE WEST'S BIGGST NIGHTMARE IS THAT ITS CITIZENS WAKE UP TO THE REALITY OF SUCH CONDITIONS. It would interrupt the brainwashing processes. The desensitisation.
Also you have to realize what many whites are secretly thinking. Want me to tell you? "There are too many of them anyway, it ensures less births". "Who cares what happens to third world cultures they live like animals anyway". "It doesnt concern me or my culture or country". "It doesnt really hurt the woman years after the fact anyway". (Which isnt true, thats why its not circumcision. Its the actual sewing up of the area after the clitoris is removed and the labia. It has to be reopened for intercouse and childbirth.)
In general this is every woman's issue. You ask why, I tell you that its due to many other practices and means of oppression of women being parellel to this physical act and treatment of the sexual organs throughout life in these cultures. A democratic society can (and has) found ways to realize the same conditions, get the same results with women and even men by using covert methods.
