I hate PBS now. They are so co opted and infiltrated. Ever since the late 90s I certainly saw a change in their character.
They are very unscientific and further a creepy agenda of PC and social control.
Example is a.very PC documentary on The Appalachian mountains. THE NEW GREEN WORLD (2009). WGBX from 9-10 pm.
It tries to explain the Europeans settling the area. It tries to be sensitive to Natives but of course it doesn't fully do this. It still wavers.
At 9:44 pm this old scientist has the audacity to put forth this theory that the reason that Europeans wanted to clear the forest is becuz originally all humans originated in the Savannah of Africa and so have a.habit desertification.
The main crack in that theory is that it attempts to explain away europeans but then what about the Native culture in just the USA that did not have such urges and in fact lived in harmony with the land which is stressed throughout the show.
It also tries to portray the Native culture in the end as a surviving example of an alternative way of looking at land. Who is.to say that the European immigrants way isn't the alternative to what's natural.
That scientist also doesn't mention that Europeans went through the Middle East and Asia out of Africa and picked up Neanderthal DNA. Of which no African natives have ever tested as possessing.
I don't know if Native Americans test and show they have Neanderthal DNA, but its intersting to consider as they came to America through Asia originally.
All that theorizing over ancestry and race is bullshit. The reasons that Europeans were more advanced seemed to have to do with sociological and anthropological complexities. For instance trade and wars etc with so many different kinds of people in Europe and the ancient classical world, barbarians then England etc etc.
The logic was horribly flawed and the answers often frighteningly childish.
This is an example of thought stopping or using tactics to cause people to not think critically to seek the truth.
The most appalling statement was about 9:30 or so a woman described the mountain people responding to British intimidation to destroy their homes as "This was personal. It was more like a community watch chasing a mad dog out" (!)
This is common propaganda and brainwashing on PBS and other supposedly educational channels..which were infiltraded during Reagan up through Clinton and lost to the public by Bush.
As the ancient Greens might view it, that it never was what it was.
That it was always an illusion of free thinking...it was just alot less insulting to the intelligence.
