Just throw them on the front lines or into a potential capture situation and see how long it takes them to figure out which is going to save their lives: their training or the illusions of power and grandeur gotten from a culture formed in one of the safest richest countries in the world...which by the way was ALLOWED to flourish, grow and spread mostly due to the CIA finding gangs useful in their agendas (see Iran Contra). Also in any instance where these people try to go off on their own in business all of a sudden the feds are on their asses and their being entrapped and set up etc.
So..where's the power without The Man, whom of you don't play ball with at top levels you don't exist.
