PETA and Mike Tyson/Electric Immobilization vs Controlled Atmosphere Killing in Slaughterhouses
PETA can seem to go overboard to many of us who are more concerned with the serious abuses of animals.
They actually put people off who might listen to them on more severe abuses by being known for focusing on what seems almost eccentric and obsessive. Thier tactics against people wearing fur are not cool either as it involves alot of mobbing behavior.
However PETA does alot of good activism that is very necessary.
Who f*cks chickens, seriously? Its outrageous. Sometimes I think the media coverage of PETA is meant to hide these more severe abuses. I am sure that major sponsors in the media pay to ensure that is what occurs. As you can see there are real problems that are still unsolved concerning humane treatment of animals. Human killing of our food is obviously by this vid a priority. Becoming vegan is not for many people.
Dont get put off by the vegan vegetarian pushers and the people obessing over details. There are real problems that need to be addressed.
I got a ride once from someone hauling cattle. He didnt abuse them and used calls and a small prod to get them to move to transfer them. It was business however it wasnt sadistic or abusive.
You have to understand the difference between the kind of person who is a truck driver and has to be more responsible for his cargo as his job is a big one dealing with large loads and heavy machinery (truck) and someone who gets this type of factory job, and, the administration of a food company. The psych profiles of these people are going to be very different. It seems that something about killing in the manner used evokes something in man, especially a certain kind of person, that is a violent instinct. It almost appears like a frenzy of violence.
Note the calm and serenity of the people using the second method of killing.
And yes, I realize to get thier point across they perhaps took the worst slaughter house vids using electric immobilization and then the best vid of a factory using controlled atmosphere killing (CAK) but human beings usually dont realize they are succumbing to a mobbing or frenzy especially in a country like the USA where we are so encouraged to not look at our own consciousness or averted from that daily.
In both examples, people are just trying to make a living. For the non abusive workers, they are just working according to a system that is inhumane by design by no fault of thier own.
There is no excuse for the purposeful abuse of the animals by the workers who obviously are not doing thier jobs. Hmm, I wonder if all these abuses are akin to being caught not working on company time?
