Alright we have another situation. This just never ends does it? One of the staff at the day drop in I go to, which is the only one really to get things done one needs to survive in a day...this staff is often cold or indifferent to me or the vibe is generally not friendly or positive.
This woman is younger also and the more mature woman who worked here usually is out on maternity leave. The place has been taken over by the core of younger women who are all of a Caucasian preppy type. Nice as they are, they are often ill equipped to handle situations like an older woman would. Also missing is an older African American woman who would also maintain some sanity if she were around regularly. Interestingly, the kids who run the Harvard Sq Shelter- Harvard Students are the best I have seen yet at maintaining order and commanding respect and having natural authority over people.
It seems that once again, I have a class with the middle to upper middle class white culture as usual. I hate the lack of grit coupled with the lack of true worldy authority, like the really rich kids seem to have. It leaves them open to not only being pushed around by intimidation, they also tend to respond too quickly in the interest of trying to be better than thier station, which I believe the Harvard kids would avoid such a pitfall as they seem to have geniune class born of being sure of what to do and say in social situations.
For instance I was called out very quickly a few weeks ago for using the word 'tranny' instead of transgender, when I got that term from the street culture and its used frequently by lesbians and other people in the culture. The girl who called me on it did so much to quickly and in a manner not appropriate to our age differences, it was disrespectful not only in consideration of age but experience. My main issue with this occurring was that compared to the horrors of the homeless scene and what goes on in shelters that is so illegal- often violating health codes, OSHA laws, civil and human rights- that to be called out on something so petty under the heading of political correctness was outrageous in perspective.
However someone like myself will get called out on such a thing in such a manner yet a person who is obviously very mentally unbalanced will be able to intimidate the entire room regularly as well as talk about subject matter that is triggering and possibly offensive to every client there. And I note specifically that subjects like being molested as well as prostitution are constants recently out of the mouth of this crazy woman.
It also disturbs me that people who cannot provide one shred of evidence make claims similar to what TI's make and the problem is that she might very well be targeted and just far gone now..or shes a perp playing a far gone target. You never know in this game.
